Mr And Mrs Potato Head Go Gender-Neutral

Mr Potato Head

Hasbro has revealed the Mr and Mrs titles will be dropped from the Potato Head characters.

Toymaker Hasbro has revealed the famous Mr and Mrs Potato Head will lose their gender titles in a bid to break free from gender norms.

The company stated: “Hasbro is making sure all feel welcome in the Potato Head world by officially dropping the Mr from the Mr Potato Head brand name and logo to promote gender equality and inclusion.”

Kimberly Boyd, Hasbro Senior Vice President, explained that the toys’ titles were “limiting” as some children may have two fathers or two mothers. “The way the brand currently exists with the Mr and Mrs is limiting when it comes to both gender identity and family structure,” Boyd stated.

‘Create Your Potato Head Family’ kits will include two non-gendered adult potatoes, one baby potato and 42 accessories. Children will then be able to make gendered or non-gendered characters and same-sex or single-parent potato families in line with changing societal roles.

The toy was brought to life alongside Mrs Potato Head in the Toy Story film, where the character famously said “that’s Mr Potato Head to you” to Woody.

The decision has sparked a woke row as fans claim it is political correctness gone too far.

Talk Radio presenter Mark Dolan said: “It is a shocking story, it is a disgrace. He’s a potato! Please leave well alone. Welcome to the crazy world of 2021.”

Piers Morgan took to Twitter to express his outrage at the news, tweeting: “Imagine thinking in the middle of a global pandemic: ‘What’s really important is dropping the Mr from Mr Potato Head & making him gender-neutral in case we upset a few wokies.'”

Mr Morgan later tweeted again, asking: “Who was actually offended by Mr Potato Head being male? I want names. These woke imbeciles are destroying the world.”
