The pop duo Jedward have attacked former wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill and called for his statue to be removed in a series of tweets.
The duo, consisting of John and Edward Grimes, have called for the removal of Winston Churchill’s statue in Parliament Square.
The Irish duo rose to fame following their appearance on the sixth series of X-Factor and have released four albums since then.
Jedward started their Twitter attack on former Prime Minister Winston Churchill last night after it was reported that the statue in Parliament’s Square was vandalised by people mourning the death of Sarah Everard. The protest was organised by the group ‘Reclaim The Streets’.
Protestors scrawled the phrase “ABAC”, which is an acronym for “All Cops Are Bastards” that became popularised during the Black Lives Matter protests last summer.
Over the course of the tweets, Jedward called the statue “offensive” and also said that “it has no place in today’s society”.
The scenes at the protest led Jedward to call for the removal of the statue, writing on Twitter:

They then suggested that the statue be relocated to Piers Morgan’s back garden, saying:
Get that Winston Churchill statue and fuck it into Piers Morgan’s back garden it has no place in today’s society!

Piers Morgan, who recently quit his job on ITV’s morning show ‘Good Morning Britain’, responded to Jedward’s tweet by firing back:
a) I'd be honoured to have that statue in my garden.
b) Churchill saved Britain from the Nazis & contributed more to society every time he breathed than you talentless disrespectful clowns have done in your combined 58 years of gormless tuneless imbecility. https://t.co/So9M6l86Aw— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) March 15, 2021
