A book charity has been donating far-left books, including books advocating Critical Race Theory, to primary school libraries.
The Point News was contacted by a concerned parent who was worried about materials being supplied to her daughter’s primary school by the charity ‘Books For Change’.
The mission of ‘Books For Change’, according to their website, is to diversify the book shelves in primary schools in order to bring about change.
The charity writes on its website that:
“Books for Change was born from a love of diverse children’s literature and one of the co-founders’ lived experience of racism – we had known for a long time that schools desperately needed to diversify their bookshelves. We also knew from working in schools in a community engagement capacity, there are little or no funds to purchase the latest diverse books… so we decided to set up a crowdfunder and buy them ourselves! You can also do that too – see our tool kit for help and guidance.”
A statement on the website also confirmed that they had been delivering books to schools. They said:
“Last week we delivered 30 brand new diverse books to some of the Folkestone Primary schools. They were received with very encouraging words from headteachers and staff at the schools. More to be delivered over the coming weeks… Watch this space.”
Among the books recommended by the organisation were ‘A Kids’Bbook About White Privilege’ by Ben Sand and ‘A Kids’ Book About Racism’ by Jelani Memory.
This is occurring despite the Government battling against the adoption of Critical Race Theory in schools.
Equalities Minister Kemi Badenoch had said in October that critical race theory was an ideology that “sees my blackness as victimhood and their whiteness as oppression”.
She continued: “I want to be absolutely clear that the Government stands unequivocally against Critical Race Theory. Some schools have decided to openly support the anti-capitalist Black Lives Matter group, often fully aware that they have a statutory duty to be politically impartial.”
Significantly, she also said: “We do not want teachers to teach their white pupils about white privilege and inherited racial guilt. Let me be clear that any school that teaches those elements of Critical Race Theory as fact, or that promotes partisan political views such as defunding the police without offering a balanced treatment of opposing views, is breaking the law.”
It was also reported separately in October last year by Wolves of Westminster that the Cabinet Office had allegedly been in talks around “colonialism and enslavement”, which were said by the Vice-President of the PCS trade union to have been “headed up” by Black Lives Matter activists.
