Jews attending a pro-Israel rally last week were reportedly assaulted by pro-Palestinian protestors.
A pro-Israel rally took place last Sunday in response to a series of pro-Palestinian rallies that had occurred at previous weekends. The event also marked the beginning of the ceasefire between Hamas and the Israeli forces.
The event was also attended by former Labour MP and Chair of Labour Friends of Israel, Joan Ryan, in addition to Conservative MPs Theresa Villiers and Christian Wakeford.
During the rally, it was reported that several Jews attempting to join the pro-Israel rally mistakenly walked into the pro-Palestinian rally and were assaulted, with police needing to step in to protect them.
They were reportedly pelted by eggs and bottles while being escorted to the pro-Israel rally.
Police were also attacked by counter-protestors, who threw objects at the officers.
The events at last week’s protests followed a spate of anti-Semitic attacks across Britain, including a group of pro-Palestinian activists shouting anti-Semitic slurs and threats in heavily Jewish populated areas.
